Our Sanctuary

Welcome to 9th Life Hawaii, the only NO-KILL, non-profit, cat rescue organization and sanctuary on Maui. Our sanctuary is home to those kitties awaiting their PURRfect new parents. We have three three catteries under construction, also several isolation and special rooms in the caretaker’s house that we use for quarantine and for VERY young kittens and special needs kitties such as blind, deaf or kitties missing limbs. Young kittens are often attacked by mongoose that sometimes just tear off a leg. Cats such as these are kept in special areas of the main house so they can be more carefully monitored.

We are located on 2 1/2 acres in a secluded area of Maui and a small part of our property is also set aside for those truly feral cats that would not be easily adoptable. However, most of our rescues are cats that have been dumped in parks, cane fields, near restaurants or housing complexes and at one time or another were someone’s pet. All of our cats are spayed or neutered and we have had as many as 200 cats at our sanctuary.

Kitten Room

Young kittens have to be kept in separate quarters for their own protection when they first come to the sanctuary. Our kitten room provides an ideal place for them to have the space and companionship they need, yet they can be easily observed by their caretakers and potential adopters. And they watch us too!!

Special Needs Cases

Sometimes, we encounter cats who have very special needs, due to contagious conditions or injuries. Our no-kill catteries include safe, comfortable rooms dedicated to providing quality conditions that allow each cat to have a full and happy life.
